If you have entered into the United Kingdom with an approved visa application that allows you to work in the United Kingdom – but have recently changed the terms of your employment or the employer that you are currently working for – you’re going to need to fill out an application for a technical change of employment.
A form provided by the United Kingdom Home Office that you can find on that services webpage (you can also elect to fill out an electronic version of the form, or print a form out and mail it in the traditional way), this is something that you’re going to need to successfully fill out and submit to keep your work permit active in the United Kingdom.
Though a technical change of employment is a relatively minor detail in the grand scheme of things (should not affect your work permit in any way whatsoever), the United Kingdom needs to have updated information about your employment status – including your position in the company, your responsibilities for that company, and whether or not you have left employment and sought out a new opportunity.
If there are, however, significant changes to your terms of employment – or if you have been unable to secure new gainful employment after being terminated at a previous position – you’re going to need to speak directly with a UK Home Office representative.
This is critical for making sure that your work permit (or work visa) allows you to remain in the United Kingdom legally, and is something that needs to be addressed just as soon as humanly possible. There are other circumstances that may require you to fill out a Tier 2 points based work permit application, another detail that needs to be discussed with those same UK Home Office representatives at your earliest possible convenience.
