If you have already married a citizen of the United Kingdom, a person that is settled in the United Kingdom, or are yourself a UK citizen and want to bring your married partner over to the UK, you’ll need to apply for and receive the UK marriage visa.
To apply for leave, you’re going to need to first decide which of the two “settlement routes” you want to take advantage of. There is a five year program as well as a 10 year program, and you’ll need to decide which one best suits your life plan – as well as which one you qualify for – before you move forward.
Five-year UK marriage visa routes are provided for those that meet all suitability and eligibility criteria of the UK Immigration Rules, whereas the 10 year route is established for any and all married couples that do not meet each and every single eligibility criteria – but still need most of them.
You’ll need to speak with the Home Office to determine which of these two routes is best for you before you begin the application process, and one of their visa representatives will be able to walk you (step-by-step) through the entirety of the application procedure.
